Taylor and Sara Johnson, a husband-and-wife team whose diverse backgrounds in sports, business, and public service have shaped the heart and mission of Diamond Home Designs.

Taylor Johnson grew up in Austin and pursued baseball at St. Edward’s University before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers. After his time in minor league baseball, he transitioned into real estate and later became a firefighter and EMT for the San Antonio Fire Department. Even while serving as a first responder, Taylor’s passion for construction never faded. He spent his days off renovating homes, honing his skills, and gaining hands-on experience. After leaving the fire department and working for a large construction company, Taylor saw the inefficiencies in the industry and decided to start his own company—one built on honesty, quality, and a deep respect for homeowners and their spaces.

Sara Johnson grew up in Flower Mound, Texas, and moved to Austin to play collegiate soccer at St. Edward’s University. With a background in logistics, education, and franchise sales, she brings a wealth of knowledge in business operations and customer relations. Her expertise helps guide the company’s vision, ensuring that every project is handled with precision and care.

Together, Taylor and Sara make the perfect team, combining their individual skillsets with strong business acumen to serve their community with excellence.

why construction?

“Our journey into construction wasn’t a traditional one. We came from completely different career fields, and that has given us a unique perspective—we prioritize integrity, trust, and value in an industry that isn’t always known for high moral standards.

When we purchased our first home, we had little money for upgrades. The first contractor we hired to renovate our bathroom turned out to be a nightmare. We lost a significant amount of money, but worse, we felt violated. We had trusted someone in our home, around our first baby, only to be deceived and taken advantage of.

That experience shaped the foundation of Diamond Home Designs. We never want another family to go through what we did. Your home is your safe space, and it’s our mission to treat it—and you—with the respect and honesty you deserve.
